Think late-night
Chicago steakhouse: polished booths that enclose years of secrets,
big slabs of aromatic prime rib, sparkly cocktail glasses clinking
at every table, wisps of smoke drifting through the spotlight that
shines on a woman singing the blues. The Famous ... A Steak
House, new to Tejon Street's Restaurant Row, is all this -- minus
the years, the excessive smoke and the blues.
As for the blues --
well the woman who sang during the weekend I visited was more torch
than blues, but she added an extra touch that simply put the evening
over the top. By Anne Christensen,

"The food is prime
beef, aged and cooked to perfection, and classic appetizers like
jumbo shrimp cocktail and crab cakes."

"This being a
steakhouse, let's talk beef, which exceeded my highest expectations.
This is mainstream meat ... truly top
of the line, prime No. 1, available almost nowhere else in the
state. The Tuna Steak ... dark, translucent, moist with pure
meaty flavor like sushi tuna... And a Chicken Oscar, that
was glorious too. If you're in the mood for crab, splurge on
the Crab Cake appetizer made with huge chunks of lump crab and not
must else ... the high quality for high dollar will carry
it long after the novelty has worn off."
